Happy New Year

I always spend a bit of time on New Years Eve looking back at the passing year.
And while not every single memory is a happy one I know that I am blessed and the sad moments pale ever so softly into the shadows of the many joyous and beautiful  moments that have been.

I wish each of you a very Happy and Blessed New Year.

Christmas Memories

I'm hoping everyone had a bright and blissful Christmas. I'm finally able to post a few pictures. We had a wonderful family time traditional Christmas. I have to admit that during Christmas I tend to love a bit of glitter which is far from my primitive roots. I'm not sure why that is but every year for a few weeks I love to fill the house with lots of trees with twinkling lights and lots of sparkly decorations.

I love Santas and snowmen and angels and fairies but my favorite decorations are nature inspired.  I adore glittery pine cones, flowers, birds, acorns, bunches of sparkling grapes, and berries.
This Santa has been around for years and greets family and neighbors by our porch.
Sparkling blue poinsettias and a playful family of snow people act as a tree skirt for my little white tree.

And there are days of baking and cooking. Our family dinner consists of traditional fare cooked the same way my mother and and aunts and Grandmother cooked for generations. My daughter and I add our own recipes each year and enjoy every minute of this special time of the year with our family. This year I added a new cookie from Cooks Illustrated. These chocolate crinkle cookies are so good. They are like a rich brownie with an ever so light crispy coating.  Even the fur babies are all worn out from much family time and lots of treats and and toys. We've had record breaking temperatures this week and lots of rain and more to come next week. After last years bitter cold it has been nice but it's time for some cool sunny winter days. I'm looking forward to some quite and crafting time and hope that the new year will bring peace and beauty to all of our blogging friends.

I hope that all of my blogger friends are enjoying a beautiful and safe Holiday Season. Unfortunately I am not able to add pictures to my post; I keep getting an error message but that being said I just want to say that I enjoy visiting every blog and we are looking forward to another year of crafting and collecting and spending precious family time together. Hopefully I will be able to get pictures posted before Christmas and we wish a most Magical Holiday to everyone.

Endless Yard Sale Tonight at six Eastern on GAC

Snowball would like to invite everyone to tune in to Great American Country tonight at six to see the contestants shopping the North Carolina 301 Endless Yard Sale from June 2015. We don't know if Mom and Lisa will be on the show but Mom left me for several days and Dad took real good care of me but I'd still like to them on the show. It must have been very important if I couldn't go with her. Anyway we are looking forward to watching and hope you will too.

Sunshine, Embroidery, Endless Yard Sale, Etsy

Hi Everyone,  I hope the sun is bright and beautiful in your neck of the woods. After several days of rain I woke to a beautiful glowing late autumn morning. As quickly as I could I was out to line to get my laundry out in the sun. The breeze was a little cool which made the sun all the more precious to me. The warmth of the sun seemed to wrap itself around me like a comforting handmade shawl. The kind my grandmother used to crochet.

This pretty chemise is one from my collection of vintage clothes. I will be adding a different chemise to Etsy tomorrow along with some other lovely items and I hope you will visit and take a look at our shop. I am always amazed at the detailed embroidery and  and sweet delicate hand made lace that ladies added to their undies a hundred years ago.

Every spring  when I launder my collection I look at this little pair of undies and think how incredibly comfortable and cool they must be.  No; I haven't worn them but that's only because they wouldn't fit.  I do believe they would be so cool and inviting when the temperatures are in the triple digits here in N.C. They also have the most delicate lace.

The crazy quilt below is from my collection of quilts.  I love the velvet's and deep plush corduroy  fabric and the silk although some of the silk has shredded as it will do but my favorite part  is the many enchanting embroidery stitches that outline every square. You'll be seeing more of this quilt along with some of out craft items in future posts. My grandmother taught me many of the same embroidery stitches when I was very young and I will be incorporating these into some of our
designs items vary soon.

We had an amazing Thanksgiving and the trees are going up and the Christmas decorating has started. Another thing I wanted to mention is that Great American Country will be airing the show of Endless Yard Sale  that was filmed in  North Carolina last June. The contestants shopped from Roanoke Rapids and Halifax to Dunn NC. We were in Halifax and were filmed as they purchased items in our booth. We Know they found some amazing items along the route and we won't know until we see the show if that scene will actually make the final cut but we had a great time and are sure looking forward to seeing the show that will air at 6:00 PM Sunday evening and we hope you will join in and watch along with us.  We are wishing the contestants the best of luck and hoping Great American Country will visit the North Carolina 301 Endless Yard Sale in North Carolina again.
We have an outlook of sunny cool days coming up so I will be back to post again soon. I have to complete the packing and shipping this afternoon so I best get at it. Wishing warm sun and bright blessings to all.

Blessed Soltice
