More glitter

More lovely things. Some of these are vintage ornaments. One is dated 1977 and some are hand made. I'll get better pictures of the handmade ones later. I'd hoped to get some really nice pictures for you but the old house is a cold one and I have been snuggled by the fire most of the day. The best is yet to come and I'll be posting pictures later in the week when it warms up some. There was also a marble top chest. It's an antique reproduction from the 60's or 70's. I can't wait to get pictures for you. Stay warm-- spring is coming--I think!

Beautiful Free Things

This thing is huge! I love the way the edges are slightly ruffled. It was one of the

items from my neighbor's garage. It's so heavy and there's so much color. I love it.

Great Day

Hi Everone and thanks for all of the nice comments on my green things.

I've been meaning to post this picture of my Celtic Cross that my partner Kirby, and friend of many years made for me a few years ago. This picture was taken weeks back during the snow we had but today has been just beautiful and so spring like. If you notice the house in the background, that was my neighbors home. It caught fire in January. Fortunately no one was hurt and they were able to save almost all of their things. They did decide to move which broke my heart, they were the best neighbors. While I was at the office today they invited Kirby to come over and take any of the things that they were leaving in the garage. WOW, I was amazed at some of the great treasures. I'll post pictures this weekend. It was so nice of them but I would still rather have them snug in that old victorian house next door. I do miss them so.

A New Name For the Baby

Hello Everyone,

I had to post one more picture of the portrait of the little girl that I found a couple of weeks ago. She finally has a name. Estella Josephine. Estella (for the aunt that helped raise me) and Josephine suggested by Linda from The Keeping Room. She can be such a spoiled child; but she was really quite happy with her name. Thank you Linda, your blog and website are wonderful and Josephine feels much more at home now!

Katie Rose Creech

This is a picture of my stepfathers family. This picture was taken in the 1920's before my stepfather was born. Just a few years after my stepfather was born in 1925 Katie would be widowed. She started working at Rocky Mount Mills when she was 8 years old and retired after 57 years. I recently was lucky enough to find one of the old school desks dated 1867 from the school. Rocky Mount Mills had it's own school for the children that lived in the Mill Village. The school was established in 1820 and operated into the 1930's. I'll post pictures of it a little later. It's been such a hectic week I haven't been able to get anything done. The weather has turned quite cool again and there's a chance for some snow (just a dusting) in the morning. I have daffodils popping up everywhere and the robins are back. Spring will come !!!

Isn't She Lovely

This was my treasure of the day yesterday. The weather was so beautiful that I decided to stop by a small local flea market. I found this portrait on canvas and she is just the sweetest child. I got her for a song and I just adore her. There is no frame and just enough wear to make her all the more primitive and precious. I have to think of a name for her. I'm starting a new quilting project tomorrow, I'll think of a name then. When ever I am stitching all of my thoughts are pleasant.

Spring ?

It has been beautiful here today. The temps in the 70's and I am loving every minute of it but just as a reminder that spring is still weeks away I posted this picture taken a few weeks ago. We were long past due for snow and even though it was cold and miserable the old holly tree by the porch made it all worth while.

Theodosia Burr Alston Overton

This is my very spoiled Theodosia. I found this baby in a feral colony when it was just a day old. Theodosia was snuggled close his mother who had died giving birth to nine babies; only two were alive. Sadly the other baby died a few days latter but Theodosia grew strong and healthy. He was such a beautiful kitten and I thought he was a little girl; hence the name Theodosia. Any way that was 8 years ago. Adopt a pet from your local rescue or humane society. You will have unconditional love forever. Please have your pets spayed or neutered.
